Hey there! Following you because you and I seem very much on the same page. I have RA thanks to SLE, and I'm glad to keep finding more people on tumblr who are in support of Chronic Illness.
flaregirl:
I am here trying to fight for people to take notice! I have trouble getting my own family to get it! I’m sure you’ve seen the spoon theory… My own mom don’t get it, really. Either that or she is just in a denial of her little girl being that sick. I love you mom.
itwaslupus:
I'm sorry you're struggling with your family understanding. A great many of us can relate to that I'm sure. Just keep informing them no matter what and I hope eventually they'll be able to understand you.
As for the Spoon Theory, well I happen to think it's a debilitating story in our community, and think we're well overdue for a new 'anthem', but for now if that story makes you feel better than I'm glad.
(in case your curious, this is why I hate it http: //itwaslupus.tumblr.com/post/2710855701/spoon-theory-garbage)
Please be well =)

Men and Lupus →
I know in my time since diagnosis I have never met a boy with Lupus.  I have only just recently interacted with one on Tumblr =), but other than that I really never knew any.  But I believe, and have always believed that it is super important that we remind ourselves that Lupus is not just affecting women.  For every two of us, there is a guy with Lupus, and he has it just as tough as we do. ...

Stuff Sick People Have to Put Up With: How to not... →
stuffsickpeoplehavetoputupwith: Most chronic illnesses have no visible outward symptoms for many years. Lupus and MS (Multiple Sclerosis) are two of them. With both, a person could be sick for a decade or more and successfully hide that fact from everyone they know, because there is technically no visible sign of illness. This… Please read this.  Also, even though it’s been quite...

Shaved legs
This is one thing that has been an annoyance for me for a long time, and I’m writing about it right now because I have to go and do this thing, and I’m procrastinating.  The thing is shaving my legs.  And no, I don’t feel annoyed with it because of some kind of gender equality thing.  I hate hair.  I’d rather it didn’t exist on my body save for my scalp.  But...

Lupus Statistics
A comprehensive list of Lupus-related statistics.  So that you may hope to spread awareness more efficiently, while sounding super official.  (Statistical numbers always sound way more effective than saying things like “dude, like, a lot of people have it.  Seriously.”) Diagnosis: >125 Million Americans suffer from Chronic Illness 1.5 million (or 1 in every 200) Americans have...

Herbs, Tea, Incense, Etc.
I’ve already mentioned a few times that I’m a pretty big advocate for herbal/holistic treatments.  Well, I also happen to concoct a lot of my own teas and incenses in addition to taking whatever supplements I might be on.  Some of them help for small reasons (i.e. chamomile is naturally slightly calming, smelling citrus zest makes you feel a bit more awake etc), but sometimes they...

"Why Keeping Little Girls Squeaky Clean Could Make... →
stuffsickpeoplehavetoputupwith: Interesting theory about the gender imbalance manifested in most autoimmune diseases.  And it makes perfect sense doesn’t it?  Children who are sheltered from germs are more likely to develop allergies.  And we know that our immune systems evolve and adapt to become resistant to all the antibiotics we pump fiercely into our bodies.  Couldn’t it be...

GIRL.  I am so glad to have read this, and that you shared it!  Good for you!  I’m a kindred spirit with you on the rough sex thing, and I’m so glad you shared, not at ALL TMI.  You’re beautiful and thanks for responding to my ramblings. =)

Dating and Lupus-Valentines Day
In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, and all that it stands for, I’d like to give in to the overwhelming depression that the very essence of this Holiday pours through the media onto the hearts of anyone who’s ever been single past the age of 13.  For people living with Lupus Chronic Illness, dating can be…um…extra special tricky.  I see a lot around the internet, from...
