All my spoons are in all the right places, if you know what I'm talkin' about...

This is something I’ve learned a great deal about in a very short and recent spam of time. Heart conditions, as I’ve mentioned on a few occasions, are a huge killer for Lupus patients and are a great threat to women especially. The more we understand these conditions and how to treat and prevent them, the safer we can keep ourselves.
Today, I had the privilege of speaking with a very prominent Sleep Clinic Director (who will be appearing on my YouTube channel in just a few short weeks) who specializes in the link between Sleep Apnea and deadly heart conditions. He informed me that many cardiac patients, specifically those diagnosed with atrial fibrillation are at a much higher risk for heart attack and stroke if they are experiencing sleep apnea as well.
What was more shocking to me was the fact that, if properly treated, the elimination of ones sleep apnea could potentially cure their atrial fibrillation. This works out well in about 40% of patients, so it isn’t quite in the majority. Still, 40% is nothing to scoff at when it comes to something as serious as heart failure.
I’ll be heading in to a sleep clinic myself in the month of October to see if I can fall inside that 40%. While there, I’ll be interviewing several experts in the field of sleep medicine and study, and I’ll be posting it all here for you guys to watch and read.
As an ending note, if you are frequently told that you snore, or toss and turn or mumble in your sleep, or if you frequently wake up feeling unrested, you really ought to inquire about sleep apnea with your doctor!
