Please, I cannot stress this enough, but malnutrition and vitamin deficiencies can happen to *anyone* at *any age* regardless of their health status.  This mindset is why many young people with Lupus or other Chronic Illness get brushed off by doctors for years before they are diagnosed.  Doctors would like to save themselves time by assuming that symptoms like arthritis and chronic fatigue are reserved for those in adulthood and tell us as young people that we are exaggerating or fabricating.  There is *no harm* in getting your vitamin and mineral levels tested to see how well nourished you are!
Shame shame shame on your doctor, I would go push for a test.  And, if this is something he/she does often, I would find another doctor.
