This community is a grassroots, random family bursting with love, pain, creativity, dreams, frustrations, and the ability to connect with each other and get their message out that rivals any political campaign I have worked for. I learn and steal from this community everyday. The one thing this community lacks? The spirit of membership. I complain a lot about not being able to wear attractive shoes. But the issue isn’t just shoes, it’s how lupus changes all of life.

Great post by SometimesitisLupus. Having been diagnosed so young, I sometimes feel like I had a leg up growing up with at least some of my limitations.

I know this appeals to me a lot, as I often get confused or overwhelmed by the clutter that chronic illness causes in my life. Appointments, prescriptions, insurance claims, they can all get bundled together and things can slip through the cracks.

The presentations will summarize findings from a prospective analysis of the PEARL-SC clinical study demonstrating the treatment benefit of blisibimod on markers of renal disease including proteinuria Complement C3 and double-stranded DNA antibodies (ds-DNA). The presentation will also summarize the clinical effect of blisibimod on a predefined subgroup of lupus patients with more severe disease characterized by a SELENA-SLEDAI greater than or equal to 10 despite receiving corticosteroid therapy at baseline.

I HAVE been abusing ‘sugar’ all my life and to compound my problem, my father was a diabetic and my mother is a diabetic, so it came as no surprise that I was diagnosed as a full-blown diabetic and this disease is described as a chronic illness.

I think this is really important to read, HOWEVER, I think a distinction needs to be made. Sugar is not addictive in the way that cocaine or heroine is. Because it is a part of a healthy lifestyle, you do need some of it. It is, however, addictive when it becomes an overused and ultra commonly craved ingredient.
